Teeem work in Spišský Hrhov and Čirč
Just to the west of Ukraine in eastern Slovakia and like many communities in Eastern Europe, there are many impoverished Roma settlements. Despite being European citizens, many Romani are victims of deplorable discrimination, which leads to a vicious circle of entrapping poverty, further discrimination, substance abuse, and crime.
To help break this malignant circle, TEEEM is providing microloans to Roma settlements in the towns of Spišský Hrhov, Čirč and nearby communities so that Roma people can live in homes with toilets, plumbing and shower capabilities. In addtion, TEEEM is providing microloans so that students can access capital to further their education or so that individuals can start sustainable businesses, which relieves them of indefinitely relying on governmental aid. Most importantly, a vicious circle is replaced by a positive one in which funding, trust, and opportunity increasingly enables the Roma population to become integrated and productive members of an industrial European society.
